Luke 13:3
- I tell
you, no!
But unless you repent, you too will all perish.
Acts 17:30
-
In the
past God
overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to
repent.
2
Cor. 7:10
- Godly sorrow
brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but
worldly
sorrow brings death.
2
Pet. 3:9 - The Lord is not
slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient
with
you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to
repentance.
MUST
DO THE WILL OF GOD
Mat.
7:21-23
- Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in
heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in
thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them,
I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (KJV)
John
9:31 - We know that God
does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly man who does his
will.
1
John 2:17 - The world and
its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives
forever.
Rev.
2:26 - To him who overcomes and does my
will to the end, I will give authority over the nations—
FALLING
SHORT
Heb. 4:1-2 -
Therefore,
since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful
that
none of you be found to have fallen short of it. For we also have had
the
gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was
of no
value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith.
Rev. 2:5 -
Remember the
height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at
first.
If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from
its
place.
Rev. 3:2 - Wake
up!
Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your
deeds
complete in the sight of my God.

TODAY'S
CHURCH
This is discussed in more detail
on the Evidence
That The Bible Is True page.

Tim.
3:1-9 - But mark
this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be
lovers of
themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to
their
parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous,
without self-control,
brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of
pleasure rather than lovers of God—having
a form of godliness but
denying its
power. Have nothing to do with them. They are the kind who worm their
way into
homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with
sins
and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never
able to
acknowledge the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so
also these
men oppose the truth—men of depraved minds, who, as far as
the faith is
concerned, are rejected. But they will not get very far because, as in
the case
of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.
2
Tim 4:3-4
- For the time
will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to
suit their
own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to
say
what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away
from the
truth and turn aside to myths.
Most
churches today preach a message of "say this prayer, and if you mean
it,
you're saved"; " we're all human"; "we all sin
everyday"; etc. Seldom
to never do
we hear about repentance, obedience, and a genuine relationship with
God by
truly following Christ. Most
of today's
churchgoers have never even heard of the majority of these
verses.
Although God absolutely
hates sin, they make
light of sin. Preachers
today use very
little scripture and a lot of their own ideas and opinions in their
sermons. The
message today is what
people want to hear, not what they need to hear.
This is what Paul means when he says
"they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what
their
itching ears want to hear."
When
presented with the truth, today's church rejects it, just like Felix
does in the
following passage:
Acts
24:24-25 - Several days later Felix came
with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewess. He sent for Paul and listened
to him
as he spoke about faith in Christ Jesus. As Paul discoursed on
righteousness,
self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said,
"That's
enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send
for
you."
LOVE
FOR GOD
Mark
12:30 - Love the Lord
your God with all your heart and with all your
soul
and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
1
John 5:2-4
- This is how
we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying
out his
commands. This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands
are not
burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the
victory
that has overcome the world, even our faith.
2
John 1:6 - And this is
love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from
the
beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
