AND DOING Luke 6:47-48 - I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. Luke 8:21 - He replied, "My mother and brothers are those who hear God's word and put it into practice." Luke 11:28 - He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it." James 1:22 - Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Rev. 3:3 - Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.FAITH AND DEEDS Acts 26:20 - First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles also, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds. James 2:14 - What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? James 2:17-18 - In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. James 2:24 - You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone. James 2:26 - As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. DISTINGUISHING TRUE FAITH Mat. 6:15 - But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Mat. 10:32-33 - "Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven. Mat. 18:3 - And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Mark 8:38 - If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels." James 1:26 - If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. NEW CREATION 2 Cor. 5:17 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! Gal. 6:15 - Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is a new creation. |

written: " 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are
far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules
taught by
men.' Luke 6:46 - "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? Luke 6:49 - But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete." Luke 12:47-48 - "That servant who knows his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. John 14:24 - He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. Titus 1:16 - They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good. 1 John 1:6 - If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 1 John 2:3-4 - We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 John 2:9 - Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. 1 John 3:7-8 - Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. 1 John 3:10 - This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother. 1 John 3:15 - Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him. 1 John 4:20 - If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. Jude 1:4 - For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. Rev. 3:15-16 - I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. |
